I was an occasional runner, but as I got closer to my 30th birthday, ‘occasional’ became ‘rarely’. Then, I got sick in December 1999. It was just a sinus infection, but it was a sign of things to come. Over the next 6 years, I had countless sinus infections and 3 sinus surgeries. My immune system was weakened. Additionally, I gained over 20 pounds.
I thought I would pass out my first class, but I kept coming back. I started with one day a week for the first few months. Then, I added a second day each week. I shed 20 pounds my first year and have kept it off. Now, 2 ½ years later, I take 3 classes a week. I have not had any sinus issues since 2006.I am healthier at 40 than I was at 30, and I never would have imagined that just a few years ago. Thank you Yoga Sol! Chris, Concord, CA
Like
most people with chronic back problems, I get that sensation
that my back is tweaked, out of alignment or that terrible
feeling it is going to slip out on me. Since
I’ve begun practicing yoga regularly at Yoga Sol,
I have experienced no back pain, no tightness and none
of the fluttering that proceeds a week on the couch with
my back out. The increased strength and flexibility
in my legs, abs and back from cross-training with Yoga
Sol has improved my own swim times to the fastest I’ve
ever been. Cameron Hagans Men’s Varsity Water Polo Coach, College Park High

I came to yoga three years ago when my
sister came to visit me in California. I was new to California.
I did not want to try yoga, but she insisted. At first
I was very awkward, overweight, and lonely. But soon I
made friends I will never forget, and became "addicted" to
yoga. I lost weight, dress sizes, developed self-confidence
as my practice improved. My posture improved, my energy
level increased, and my cholesterol level dropped 50 points.
I could not live without yoga now, and my teachers have
had a direct impact on all aspects of my life. How wonderful!
Thank you Tara and Meighan. Maria (51 years young)
I lost 4 dress sizes in 6 weeks and
I still ate the same way I always do - Anything and everything! It
also cured my tendonitis in 2 classes! Tara Clay, owner
I
was diagnosed with cancer in Feb. 2006. Good
news is that my prognosis is very good. But I would had to undergo 6 weeks
of radiation- 5 days a week. During radiation, I took your S2
yoga classes twice a week. They
were a tremendous help in assisting me with staying in shape, fighting fatigue
during radiation and overall feeling good physically. Even my doctors said
that yoga or pilates would be good for me and that it would help fight fatigue. I am so glad Yoga Sol was available to me because I don't know
what kind of shape I would have been without it. Laura
I’ve been to other yoga studios and have experienced many other instructors but Yoga Sol really blew my yoga experience out of the water. As a functional movement specialists I know it is crucial to have a good understanding of why you are doing certain poses and maneuvers. One of the instructors, Wes, was very thorough to explain the different benefits of certain poses like increasing the tensile strength in my SI joints. I felt very welcomed from the get go, I was made to feel a part of the group right away. I recommend Yoga Sol concord to my patients and to those who look to Yoga as a way to help further heal and maintain their wellness.
Yoga Sol is a community of teachers and students deeply interested in self improvement. The staff really does care about their students and you can see the dedication the teachers have in sharing their love of Yoga.
I have been coming to Yoga Sol for about 6 months and it's been a life-changing experience. The studio is always clean and that includes the bathrooms. There are lockers there so you can stow your belongings safely, as nothing beyond your mat, locker key and water are permitted in the room. Even though it plainly states no belongings are allowed in the room on the business' website, I felt that was important to reiterate here just in case people don't look at the website.
What I really like about this place is that you get a variety of instruction from the teachers. Laura is extremely technical, which is important to make sure you are on track during class. Her classes are challenging and she's very attentive to ensuring you are in the correct posture so you don't hurt yourself. Grace is amazingly nurturing and her Yin classes are simply YUMMY for a lack of a better word. You can really sink into relaxation in her class and unwind. The awesome thing about Grace is, despite her easy, nurturing energy, if she is subbing for a vinyasa class, rest assured she will give you a great work-out. Michi's vinyasa class is outstanding. She is also very nurturing and attentive, especially when she leads in head stands or shoulder stands. I love her style and her class. (Tuesday, 6:45pm) CJ is also very good. I've taken her Yin class on Sundays and she really creates the atmosphere of relaxation. She taught a Kid's class this summer, which my son attended, and she was absolutely amazing with the kids.
Having saved the best for last, I'll give you a head's up about Tara. She is amazing. Pure and simple. What I love about her the most is that she is a no-nonsense, straight-up person. She is informative, extremely knowledgeable and will push you past your comfort zone in her classes. But she is also very attentive to ensure your safety. **PLEASE NOTE: In her classes, you will work HARD. Her classes are not for those who are looking for an easy workout. Go to Grace's class if you want that. Seriously. Tara also has an innate ability to bring comedy to the class; right in that moment when you feel like you cannot hold a pose one breath longer. This is great, because as you laugh, you forget your legs are about to spontaneously combust and you can keep calm and carry on.
All in all, I've had an extremely amazing experience here, and I cannot recommend this place enough. There is something for everyone here, and it's a wonderful environment to come to and get your yoga on. Besides, where else can new students get 30 days UNLIMITED yoga classes for $30 to try it out????

Love this studio! Tara is the owner and also teaches a handful of classes. I find her classes to be a refreshing change to yoga. I am never bored and always happy with the class. I like all the staff and teachers at this down-to-earth studio that is colorfully painted, clean, and ALWAYS plenty of parking. There is a nice variety of classes, something for everyone - there is power yoga for strength training, vinyasa flow, and yin yoga for a low key change, intro classes for beginners, and also HOT YOGA! You don’t have to pay extra for the Hot Yoga, which is awesome.
Some of the classes play music, and sometimes it’s a little funk or R&B or Michael Jackson - a NICE CHANGE if you ask me! For some of the power classes. I get tired of the OM gong music and monk chanting - ya know? At Yoga Sol you get lots of variety in many senses!
Students here are all ages, abilities and nobody gives the "I’m showing off" attitude around here.
I'm not a "gusher" when it comes to reviews - but I seriously can’t speak highly enough for this place! It’s so much fun.
Prices are completely reasonable and the studio looks new, clean and fresh all the time
After the first free lesson, I had to sign up for the class. It was perfect for an anti-workout gal like myself. I was quite intimidated by the duration (90 minutes) of the class, but at the end of the session it didn't feel like it was long at all! I'm the type of a person who get on a treadmill, pretend to run for 8 minutes, then give up. Yeah - and this girl lasted for entire 90 minutes and then went back the next day for another session! Not that the moves were easy or my body wasn't sore (I'm still sore as of this writing), but the program and the routines were really well-organized for beginners. I am very glad that I found this place. Plus, $30 for the first month deal is a steal!
First, I'm not going to profess to be a yoga know it all, because I am new to yoga, however my experience so far has been very positive. I recently started here at Yoga Sol and I have to say that I find it challenging enough and very relaxing. I've only had high impact, fast paced exercise previously and find yoga to be a nice change. The instructors here so far have been friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.
For my experience here so far, I give it 5 stars! I'm hooked!!
The Power Yoga classes are challenging and will make you work. The studio is clean and beautifully decorated
Being new to yoga, it was so nice to finally have somewhere to go so close to home. The inside is really nice, very warm and inviting with books, little statues, and incense.
There is a shower in the dressing room if you need to get to work after your class. There are a lot of classes throughout the day; a 6:15am during the weekdays so you can catch a class before work. And they have an 8:30 pm class T/W/Th if you have to go later in the day. They have hot classes, core classes, vinyasa, and yin classes.
The yoga studio is fairly big, with a full mirror all along one side. They have all the equipment you generally use for class such as straps, blocks, blankets, etc. If you don't have a yoga mat, you can rent one for a dollar.
The instructors are very nice, patient with all the beginners and always have some new move or technique for the really experienced yogis
The decor is great- it is warm, friendly, relaxing and beautiful. A new retail area which has saved me on a couple of occasions already when I remembered to go to yoga but forgot to buy birthday gifts...
I am teaching now (so hooked, I am) and was thrilled to participate in a Yoga Alliance certified training through Yoga Sol given by Tara. Taking my practice to a new level by teaching and practicing has only enhanced the experience. I recommend you come in and take a class to see for yourself!! :)
Yoga Sol is the place to go if you want to attend classes taught by knowledgeable and friendly trainers in a clean, calm environment. I went for my initial one-on-one session last week. The trainer was patient and thorough. She also didn't laugh when I broke the massage ball--eek! I was so embarrassed, but she remained calm and just rolled another ball my way. I think that's what sealed the deal for me. Not to mention how inexpensive the classes are. I plan on attending regularly until my trip to Cancun in December, so I’ll be able to update my review at that time. For now (hehe) I’m a loyal fan. I’ve already started noticing a difference in the way I look and feel (I’ve lost 10lbs, my skin is clearer and more important, so is my mind).
I also like that there are so many open-minded moms in the classes. I thought I might feel as if I were auditing a women's studies class or something, but everyone is extremely friendly and inclusive. YS has made a wonderful first impression.
I am somewhat a newcomer to yoga and Yoga Sol. I became a patron in September of 2008. I have found the different teachers to be extremely helpful during and after class time. It is extremely helpful to find instructors that will help you with your poses to ensure that during each class you are giving your personal best and not doing something to injure yourself.
The studio is beautifully decorated and quite welcoming. I have never had a bad experience with the owner or any other employees or patrons. I have had very positive experiences and have found Tara, the owner, to be quite polite, professional and very helpful. I must say that I have never attended the heated classes and found them to be cold and any way, shape, or form. The heated classes are my favorite and they are quite hot.
I recommend this studio to folks all of the time. I definitely recommend taking advantage of their 30 days for $30 introductory offer. Whether you are a newbie or a veteran, I think that you will really enjoy Yoga Sol.
The studio itself is nice and welcoming, it has a soothing, earthy, non- corporate, yet very neat and clean feel. It smells good, nag champa :). The instructors are generally great and helpful. They pay attention to your form and provide modifications when you need them, it's small enough for this. There are nice locker rooms that are clean, neat and have all the necessities (toiletries and plastic bags for your sweaty clothes). The people who take classes here are always pleasant. There is plenty of parking and it is near a peets coffee (yummy). They have great deals if you want to take a lot of classes. They also have boot camp if you want more and more gentle classes if that is what you need.
I love this place! The classes are really good, better than classes I've had anywhere else. I bought a GroupOn at the end of last year and plan to buy another year going forward. It's a 30 minute drive from Pleasant Hill but it's worth it. I've done the Vinyasa classes and the Hot Yoga. The hot yoga--I didn't think I was going to like, since I hate the heat and I'm a little claustrophobic. But the classes are great as we do standing poses with really clear instruction, and gradually work into the "sweat phase." I actually like it and get such a good, all-over workout. From doing these classes, definition in my arms is better than I've ever gotten from swimming or lifting weights and my trochees is back up in my bathing suit! The instructors ask if anyone has any back or health issues. I responded that I'd recently had a hip replacement and had a sensitive lower back. I was given some tips about modifications as we went along without being made to feel like I was disabled or weak. I was very comfortable and didn't feel that competitive vibe like there is in some places. The instructors are sensitive and very clear and audible in describing the best positions for poses --enabling the best workout. No pretentious yoga guru stuff, just a calm well-run professional atmosphere.
I love this studio!! Solid, well- trained teachers, diverse styles, beautifully decorated. What a gem in this corner of the world. When I saw their unlimited class special, I was totally blown away. I kept looking for "the catch", because it was an absolute steal in a place with such solid Yoga training. In most places you get quality instruction with "normal" Yoga prices. The other spectrum brings poorly trained (read, dangerous) teachers with rock bottom prices. Yoga Sol has somehow brought the two worlds together, because you get excellence in training that won't break the bank. Two (three if I had them) thumbs up!!
This place knows how to teach yoga. I'm a novice and they make me feel really comfortable. My stress level goes down every time I enter thru their doors. Thank you Yoga Sol!
Yoga Sol is an AWESOME yoga studio. Through the years, I have been to many yoga classes and studios, but this tranquil environment is just perfect. Not only do you get a great workout but the instructors actually teach the postures. They take a moment to give you that special extra attention and make sure you are practicing yoga properly. It is the perfect place for the beginner or total yogi who continually wants to perfect their practice.
Yoga Sol is a beautiful studio with diverse classes and great teachers. The owner Tara is wonderful & totally professional, her teaching is challenging & fun. I've taught for 9+ years at many studios, and have not had such a great supportive, encouraging, fair and generous environment to work in as she provides at Yoga Sol. Go to Yoga Sol! You will LOVE it!
I have been a yoga student for almost 3 years. Yoga Sol has literally changed my life. From dramatic, sustained weight loss (40 pounds) to improved physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental well being, Yoga Sol has provided me with so many benefits. All of the instructors are amazing: kind, helpful, knowledgeable, informative, and encouraging- the list goes on. There is a good variety of classes and, no matter how I feel when I walk into the studio, I always feel better when I leave. Do yourself a favor: honor your body and go to Yoga Sol.
Yoga Sol is not only "beginner friendly" for students new to Yoga, but offers more advanced classes, workshops and training. There are a variety of instructors with a variety of classes and styles. The studio is beautifully appointed, with all the props you need to assist with yourpractice. The studio also has showers for the convenience of leaving to a job or appointment.
